Paper Rex and ZETA in top 4, DRX and G2 eliminated from VCT Stage 1 Masters
VCT Stage 1 Masters is now in its finals stage, only 4 teams now remain in competition to become the champion of Iceland Masters. On Day 9 of VCT Masters, 2 massive upsets happened, ZETA beat DRX and Paper Rex beat G2 in lower bracket games to secure a top 4 finish.
With this lose in the lower bracket, DRX and Paper Rex are eliminated from VCT Stage 1 Masters with a 5th-6th place finish, $40,000 USD and 250 VCT points. Only 4 teams remain in VCT 2022 Masters 1 - LOUD and Optic in upper bracket, ZETA and Paper Rex in lower bracket.
Japan's ZETA Division is on an insane run in VCT Iceland Masters they have eliminated four teams from Masters, in groups stage they sent Fnatic and NiP home and in playoffs they had eliminated Team Liquid and DRX. This is probably the best Cinderella story in VCT history so far. No one expected them to be moved on from group stages let alone secure a top 4 finish VCT 2022 Stage 1 Masters.

On Day 9 of VCT Masters, two lower bracket round 2 series were played in first series Japan's ZETA Division face Korea's DRX in an elimination series. DRX were heavy favourites in this series, but ZETA were riding high on their no pressure Cinderella run. First two map of the series were super closer and was traded in between both the teams. ZETA won map 1 Icebox 13-11, DRX won map 2 Ascent 13-10 and tied the series at 1-1. Final map was a complete domination by ZETA Division, they won decider map split 13-4 and eliminated one of the tournament favourites. ZETA won the series 2-1 and moved on to secure a top 4 finish.
Second series of the Day was G2 Esports vs Paper Rex, in this series G2 were favourites to win. Map 1 was Split, G2 were up 9-3 at half time but PRX managed to complete an insane comeback to win the map 13-10. Second map was Bind and PRX won 13-7 comfortably. They became the first team to win a map with Yoru pick. PRX won the series 2-1 and eliminated EMEA #1 seed G2 Esports from VCT Stage 1 Masters.
Paper Rex and ZETA Division will now face each other in lower bracket Round 3 on April 22nd, loser will be eliminated and winner will move on to lower bracket final where they will face the loser of LOUD vs Optic.
