Liquid and G2 after winning their lower bracket games in playoffs of VCT EMEA Challengers are now in the top 4 of VCT EMEA Stage 1. The will face each other in a qualifier game for VCT Stage 1 masters today, March 25th.
Liquid beat guild Esports 2-0 in lower bracket round 2 whereas G2 upsets M3C 2-0 to move onto the decider game. A total of 2 teams from EMEA will qualify for VCT stage 1 Masters in Reykjavik, Iceland, so far Fnatic and FPX are already qualified for Masters which only leaves one spot remaining. The winner of today's series in between G2 and Liquid will be the final team from EMEA to go Iceland. Both these teams had already faced each other once in first round of playoffs where Liquid won 2-1 against G2 esports.
Two series will be played today, first will be the upper bracket final in between Fnatic and FPX. The winner will move onto grand finals of VCT EMEA Stage 1 Challengers whereas the looser will get one more chance in lower final against Liquid/G2. The second series of the day will be the important one, the winner will qualify for the VCT Stage 1 Masters and the looser will be eliminated from stage 1.
VCT EMEA Challengers playoffs results-
In the first series of lower bracket round 2, G2 faced M3C in an elimination series. M3C were the favourites of winning this series, they lost to Fnatic in upper bracket in a very close series and dropped down to lower bracket. G2 esports pulled off the upset and beat M3C 2-0, Icebox 13-8 and Bind 13-10 to eliminated them, M3C didn't looked good in this series. They look unorganized and in high pressure as favourites. M3C finished this event with a 5th-6th place finish, €15,000 prize and 50 points in VCT leader board.
In the second series, Team Liquid face Guild esports. Despite being a 2-0 sweep in favour of Liquid this series was much closer. Team Liquid managed to win 2-0, Breeze 13-11 and Ascent 13-8 and eliminated Guild from the event. Guild finished this event with a 5th-6th place finish, €15,000 prize and 50 points in VCT leader board.
